Konami producer Motoi Okamoto has said the company aims for annual releases and has several unannounced games in development; so far, Bloober Team has only confirmed the remake is in progress.

Explained simply

Silent Hill is a horror video game series published by Konami, known for stories set in a fog-covered town where characters face frightening creatures and troubling memories. The first game, released in 1999, follows Harry Mason as he searches for his missing daughter.

Bloober Team is a Polish game studio that has worked on horror titles, while Konami owns the Silent Hill series. Remaking the original could introduce its story to players on newer hardware, and would form part of Konami’s broader plan to release Silent Hill games regularly.
