Black Doves actress says she loved playing ‘a very Welsh assassin’
Welsh actress Gabrielle Creevy says she was delighted that her character Eleanor in the second season of Netflix spy thriller Black Doves could keep her Welsh accent and identity. The choice matters to her because, growing up, she rarely saw Welsh accents represented on screen.
Creevy auditioned in a Welsh accent, which the production liked, and writer Joe Barton added dialogue and details about Bridgend to suit her character. She stars alongside Keira Knightley, Sarah Lancashire and Ben Whishaw; Black Doves premieres on 5 November. Creevy also won a Bafta Cymru award for BBC drama The Guest and will appear in supernatural drama The Witch Farm, starting on 22 November.
