COD Modern Warfare 4 has seemingly answered DMZ players’ PvE calls with new Story Mission changes – but there are major caveats
Infinity Ward appears to have made DMZ Story Missions private for solo players on their first attempt, offering a limited response to calls for PvE-only play. The change could help players complete missions without unwanted encounters, but it does not create a fully PvE mode.
The developer has not officially announced the change. A player’s first-hand test found no other players, recent-player entries, or activated UAV Towers and SAM Sites during a first Story Mission attempt, though reports suggest other players may still appear. Repeat attempts are described as less forgiving, and DMZ remains designed as a PvPvE experience.
In short
- First-time solo Story Missions appear to offer a quieter run.
- The change is unconfirmed and may not prevent every encounter.
- Repeat attempts can bring back the PvPvE challenge.
