Former NFL star says he previously flew on private jet that crashed in Florida: ‘Absolutely devastated’

Joe Mixon said he was “absolutely devastated” after learning he had flown on the Learjet 60 that crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, killing all nine people aboard. The former NFL running back had travelled on the same aircraft about a month earlier with the two pilots, whom he described as professionals and wonderful people.

The jet crashed onto a highway on Sunday. The National Transportation Safety Board said there were signs it was breaking apart before impact and that investigators were focusing on weather conditions, including those at altitude. The victims included pilots Jeff Gregory, 55, and Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, 20, an aspiring commercial pilot, as well as Texas entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his family and two other passengers.
