Johnny Depp no longer rules out a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ return after years away from franchise
Johnny Depp says he is open to returning as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, after previously ruling out a comeback. He told Entertainment Tonight that he would consider it if the circumstances were right and the films could end on a stronger note, making a return possible but far from certain.
Depp said he would work with producer Jerry Bruckheimer, whom he trusts and considers a close friend. The series began in 2003 and released four further films through 2017, all starring Depp; it has not continued since his dispute with Amber Heard. Depp is also due to appear in Ebenezer, scheduled for 2026, and Day Drinker, scheduled for 2027.
In short
- Depp has not ruled out playing Jack Sparrow again.
