ICE agent charged over vile video of him mowing down migrant construction worker, 48, with his unmarked SUV
An ICE agent, Mario Alberto Morales, has been indicted on aggravated assault charges after allegedly driving his unmarked SUV into Miguel Parra Hernandez during a pursuit in Houston. The case matters because video evidence is at the centre of conflicting accounts about whether the collision was intentional.
The incident happened on 10 October. Hernandez, a 48-year-old construction worker, suffered a fractured leg and remains in federal custody at a rehabilitation facility; his lawyer says he also has nerve damage and chronic pain. Prosecutor Sean Teare says surveillance footage contradicts ICE’s claim that Hernandez ran in front of the vehicle, while Morales’s lawyers describe the collision as an accident and allege the indictment’s timing was politically motivated. Morales turned himself in on Monday.
