‘The Elder Scrolls 6’ Finally Has An Official Title
Developing story first seen 12 hours ago
Bethesda has officially named its next mainline role-playing game The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel, confirming a title that had been reported the previous week. The reveal, made by studio director Todd Howard in a video marking Bethesda’s 40th anniversary, is the first notable update in a long wait for the game.
The video offers little else: a brief image of a scroll emerging from sand, the logo and a cryptic passage attributed to a Moth Priest serving Hammerfell’s High Queen Iradne. Bethesda has not announced a release date, platforms or gameplay, and has not confirmed whether the game will come to Nintendo Switch 2. Sentinel is also the name of a city in the Alik’r region of Hammerfell, a setting familiar from earlier Elder Scrolls games.

Explained simply
The Elder Scrolls is a long-running series of fantasy role-playing games made by Bethesda. Players explore a large fictional world, meet its inhabitants and take on quests; each main game has a distinct title and setting within that world.
Bethesda is the studio behind the series, and Todd Howard is one of its senior creative leaders. Hammerfell is a province in the games’ world of Tamriel, and Sentinel is a city there, making the name familiar to some players. The series’ next main instalment matters to fans after a long gap since the previous main game, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, released in 2011.
