Israeli ex-generals condemn settler violence, help Palestinian farmers
Around 30 former senior Israeli military officials, including six generals, helped Palestinian farmers harvest olives in the occupied West Bank. The act of solidarity comes amid a rise in extremist settler violence against Palestinians, which many Palestinians say is enabled by the Israeli military.
Former Major General Eyal Ben-Reuven compared attacks on women and children to pogroms, while former Colonel Doron Meinert said the occupation is a central problem for Israeli society that must be addressed with Palestinians. Ben-Reuven said he began organising the group several months ago in response to increased violence.
