Watch: Qatar working towards ‘interim deal’ to end US-Iran escalation

Qatar says it is working towards an interim agreement between the United States and Iran to prevent renewed fighting. The effort comes as diplomats seek to narrow differences, with Qatar warning that further escalation could make negotiations harder.

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari said on Tuesday that both countries remained committed to talks and were reviewing proposals from mediators, including Qatar. He said a deal could build confidence and secure commitments on the ground, following fresh US strikes on Iran’s Qeshm island.
