Avengers: Doomsday star Channing Tatum is still “fighting” to get his solo Gambit movie made
Channing Tatum says he is still trying to get a standalone Gambit film made, years after the project was cancelled. His comments revive the prospect of a solo film following his appearance as the Marvel character in *Deadpool & Wolverine* and news that he is set to appear in *Avengers: Doomsday*.
A Gambit film starring Tatum was greenlit in 2014 and cancelled in 2019 after Disney acquired Fox. Tatum said three directors had been attached at different stages, including Gore Verbinski, but the project fell apart over studio disagreements, lengthy development and creative differences. He added that Shawn Levy had wanted to direct an earlier script, but Tatum and producer Reid Carolin were not ready to proceed.
