‘Doting grandad’ named as victim of fatal crash
Paul Hart, 57, died after the car he was driving collided with another vehicle on the A628 Hemsworth bypass on Saturday morning. He had been taking his wife to work; she was taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Police are investigating the collision and have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.
Hart’s family remembered him as a devoted husband, father and grandfather who took great joy in his five-month-old granddaughter. A 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving remains on police bail. The crash involved a white Ford EcoSport and a blue Volkswagen Polo at about 06:00 GMT.
In short
- Paul Hart, 57, died in a crash on the A628.
- His wife suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
- Police are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage.
Explained simply
The A628 is a road in West Yorkshire, and the Hemsworth bypass carries traffic around the town. Collisions on roads such as this can involve drivers travelling to work or connecting with other routes.
Police investigate fatal collisions to establish how they happened and whether anyone may have committed an offence. Witness accounts and dashcam recordings can help them piece together events.
A person arrested on suspicion of an offence has not been convicted, and being on police bail means the investigation is continuing. The outcome may help clarify what happened and whether further legal action is warranted.
