Welsh aviation firm AerFin bought in £475m deal
ORIX Aviation, the aircraft leasing arm of Japan’s ORIX Group, has agreed to buy Newport-based AerFin in a deal worth about £475m. The acquisition brings a Welsh aviation business that has grown into a global supplier of aircraft engines, parts and maintenance services into a larger international group.
AerFin employs more than 230 people and says it serves over 600 organisations. Its work includes buying, selling, leasing and repairing aircraft, engines and components, extending their useful lives through reuse and maintenance. The deal gives ORIX Aviation broader aftermarket and end-of-life aircraft services, while AerFin’s chief executive says ORIX’s support will help the firm grow; the sale also ends Danish investor CataCap’s majority ownership.
