David Lynch-EP’d Thriller ‘Hyena’ Sets Q1 2027 Start As Kiernan Shipka & D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai Replace Previously Announced Leads
Psychological thriller *Hyena*, one of the final films David Lynch signed on to as an executive producer, is set to begin production in early 2027. Kiernan Shipka and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai have replaced previously announced leads Archie Madekwe and Havana Rose Liu, with Edgar Ramírez and Rosemarie DeWitt also joining the cast.
Directed by Scott Coffey, the film follows Genevieve as her new boyfriend Alexei enters her apparently idyllic family and exposes buried secrets and tensions. Filming is planned for Spokane, Washington, and WME Independent has joined Upgrade to sell the project, which is due to be presented to buyers at the American Film Market. Lynch, who died in January 2025, mentored Coffey and was closely involved in the film’s early development.
