1tbsp Announces Debut Album ‘big soaps’

Australian producer 1tbsp, the project of Maxwell Byrne, has announced his debut album, *big soaps*, due on 5 February 2027. The record brings together sounds and ideas from his recent work, shaped by a period of recession and cultural backlash.

The new single, ‘Carottes’, features French artist miki and explores self-alienation through everyday details, with lyrics sung in French and a Korean bridge. Byrne and miki wrote three songs during a roughly two-hour session before her tour; two will appear on the album. Byrne began 1tbsp in 2021, drawing on house, reggaeton, synth-pop and techno, and the project has since sold out headline shows across Australia, Europe and North America.
