Eufy launches indoor window camera for outdoor monitoring in the US
Eufy’s Window Camera E10 is now available in the US for $80, offering a way to monitor outdoors without fitting a camera outside. It attaches to the inside of a window with residue-free adhesive, which could suit renters or people who want to avoid drilling.
The camera records in 2.5K, has up to 8x digital zoom and night vision, and saves footage to a separately purchased SD card of up to 256GB. It can record continuously and recognise people, pets and vehicles without a subscription when using local storage. Clear, relatively thin glass works best; power must come from a USB-C cable, and thick or patterned windows may cause problems with reflections or blind spots.
In short
- Eufy’s $80 camera mounts inside a window to watch outdoors.
- It records in 2.5K and supports continuous local storage.
- Clear glass and a nearby power outlet are important.
Steelman: both sides, in good faith
The strongest fair case each way — we don't pick a winner.
The case for
The camera offers renters and others who cannot or do not want to drill a practical way to monitor outside, with local storage and recognition features that do not require a subscription. Its image quality, night vision and continuous recording may make it useful for everyday security, provided the window is suitable.
The case against
Placing a camera behind glass can limit reliability: reflections, thicker or patterned panes and blind spots may reduce visibility, while digital zoom is not the same as optical detail. The need for a USB-C power cable and a separately purchased storage card also adds constraints and cost, so an indoor camera may not suit every outdoor monitoring need.
Explained simply
Eufy is a consumer electronics brand that makes home security cameras and other smart-home devices. Indoor cameras are usually placed inside a home to watch rooms, while outdoor cameras are designed to monitor areas such as gardens, doors or driveways.
A camera used behind a window avoids attaching equipment to an outside wall, which may matter to renters or people who do not want to drill. Glass can affect what a camera sees, particularly at night when its lights may reflect back into the lens, so the window’s type and position can shape how useful this setup is.
The camera needs a cable for power and a separate memory card to store recordings locally. Local storage lets owners keep footage without paying for a cloud-storage subscription, though it also means arranging and managing the card themselves.
