‘Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping’ Getting Hot With $80M+ Opening Floor, Presales Ahead Of ‘Wicked’ – Box Office Update

*The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping* is tracking towards an opening of at least $80 million in North America, after strong advance ticket sales put it ahead of *Wicked* at the same stage. The figures have raised expectations for the Lionsgate prequel, though presales do not guarantee a similarly large opening.

The film’s presales are reportedly the strongest Lionsgate has had for any title since the Covid pandemic. Some forecasts put its chances of opening above $100 million at 75 per cent, while two Thanksgiving releases, *Hexed* and *Focker-in-Law*, are each expected to take $40 million to $50 million. The previous prequel, *The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes*, opened to $44.6 million domestically and eventually earned $166.3 million.
