Giants look to ‘Motor’ off of Devin Singletary as running back room thins
The New York Giants are likely to rely on Devin Singletary as their lead running back against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, after injuries and roster changes depleted the position group. His expected return to a major role is a sharp reversal: he was a healthy scratch for three consecutive games in October, then scored the overtime winner against Houston when other backs were hurt.
Singletary, known as “Motor”, joined the Giants in 2024 after Saquon Barkley left for Philadelphia and later lost playing time to Tyrone Tracy Jr. He stayed with the team on a reduced, veteran-minimum contract and says he is ready to carry the workload, despite having reached 16 carries in a game only three times with New York. Cam Skattebo is doubtful with a hamstring injury, Tracy is on injured reserve and Najee Harris is no longer on the roster; the Eagles rank 28th in rushing defence.
In short
- Singletary is expected to lead the Giants’ depleted backfield against Philadelphia.
- He scored a 30-yard overtime winner against Houston.
- The Eagles rank 28th in rushing defence.
