Last month Parnell Sq creche attacker Riad Bouchaker collapsed in prison – now parents of the children he attempted to kill have been told exactly what is wrong with him ahead of his scheduled sentencing hearing
Riad Bouchaker, convicted of attacking children and a childcare worker outside a Dublin school in 2023, suffered a stroke after collapsing in prison last month. Parents of the injured children have been told he remains in hospital, ahead of his scheduled sentencing hearing on 16 November.
The 52-year-old was convicted by a jury of all charges after denying attempted murder and assault offences. His defence had argued that a life sentence would be inappropriate because of his intellectual disability; the court also heard he has a brain injury and regular seizures. One child suffered catastrophic brain injuries and will need round-the-clock care for life.
In short
