Chemistry Ventures seeks $500m for its oversubscribed second startup fund
Chemistry Ventures, a venture capital firm founded two years ago by alumni of Bessemer, Index Ventures, and Andreessen Horowitz, is raising $500 million for its second fund, according to an SEC filing. The move matters as a signal of continued investor appetite for early-stage technology startups, with the firm significantly increasing its firepower from the $350 million it raised at launch.
The firm was founded by Mark Goldberg (formerly of Index Ventures), Ethan Kurzweil (formerly of Bessemer), and Kristina Shen (formerly of a16z), who combined their experience at large VC firms. Chemistry backs early-stage startups in developer tools, fintech, and infrastructure, with portfolio companies including Granola, Decagon, Persona, Serval, and Nova Intelligence. The Wall Street Journal reports the new fund is already oversubscribed and is expected to close soon. Chemistry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
