Subnautica 2’s first proper update is coming tomorrow, bringing in much needed creature behaviour changes and more

Rock Paper Shotgun · 4 hours ago

Unknown Worlds is releasing the first substantial post-launch update for the early access survival game Subnautica 2 on 8th July, marking the first change that goes beyond a simple hotfix. Billed as Early Access 1.1, "Adaptive Measures," the update delivers a range of previously promised improvements, with a particular focus on making combat and interactions with the game's alien creatures feel more responsive and impactful.

The early game will feature more biolabs for finding and swapping Biomods, and players who unlock a certain new tool will be able to scan creatures to unlock additional passive biomod slots. Creature changes are the headline: improved flinches when struck with the survival multi-tool, new stunned states via the sonic resonator, and smoother passive-to-aggressive transitions for blight creatures. Smaller tweaks include improved wrecks with more puzzle-solving, a clearer PDA with audio log playback, voice-over prioritisation, and a new buildable personal storage option. Full patch notes are due when the update lands.
