Palworld will remain $30 as it gears up for its 1.0 release

Polygon · 1 month ago

Pocketpair has confirmed that Palworld, its "Pokémon with guns" survival game, will keep its price at $29.99 when it leaves early access and launches as Version 1.0 on 10 July. This matters because, like many early access titles, the game had long carried the possibility of a price rise at full release, with its Steam page explicitly warning that the cost "may increase at or closer to the official release." The developer said keeping the price steady was "a small way of saying thank you" to its players.

Palworld has been in early access since January 2024 and has proven a considerable commercial success, with Pocketpair announcing that 40 million players have now tried the game — though that figure includes those who played via Xbox Game Pass rather than buying it outright. The success has come despite a lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company that previously forced changes to certain game mechanics. The 1.0 update will add new Pals, areas and more, and the game is currently discounted on Steam to $20.99 (30% off) until 9 July at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
