Isaac Mizrahi Documentary ‘Unzipped’ Acquired by Janus Films, Theatrical Re-Release Planned for September (EXCLUSIVE)
Janus Films has acquired the North American rights to "Unzipped", Douglas Keeve's acclaimed 1995 documentary about fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, and will give the film a theatrical re-release. The move brings a landmark 1990s fashion documentary into the library of a distributor known for prestige and art-house cinema, introducing it to new audiences via a restored version.
A 4K restoration of the film will open in New York on 25 September before expanding nationwide. Shot in 1994, "Unzipped" offers a fly-on-the-wall portrait of Mizrahi launching a new collection and features models including Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss and Linda Evangelista, alongside figures such as Eartha Kitt and Richard Gere. Keeve and Mizrahi were a couple during filming, though making the documentary contributed to their break-up. The deal was negotiated between Janus Films and Cinetic Library Sales, adding to a Janus catalogue that spans classic auteurs and recent 4K re-releases such as "Paris, Texas" and "I Shot Andy Warhol".
