Crimson Desert Dev Working On Getting Switch 2 Version Up And Running

Nintendo Life · 1 month ago

Pearl Abyss, the South Korean studio behind the open-world action-adventure Crimson Desert, is developing a Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game, with CEO Heo Jin-Young confirming in a recent corporate briefing that it has reached a stage where "basic gameplay is possible". The update matters because it moves the prospect of a Switch 2 release from earlier rumour and "research and development" to an officially acknowledged effort, though the company stresses the project remains at a very early phase.

Jin-Young cautioned that this is not a "simple port", and that the key challenge is preserving Crimson Desert's graphics, action and open-world experience on the hardware, with further optimisation, technical verification, partner collaboration and quality checks still required before any release schedule can be confirmed. The context is not entirely reassuring: when the game launched on PlayStation 5 in March, sibling site Push Square reported "really poor performance" and graphical issues, although that version has since received multiple updates.
