Charlie Kirk's family has formally asked a Utah court to play in full the recorded testimony of Lance Twiggs — the transgender roommate and partner of murder suspect Tyler Robinson — after a judge ruled that around 15 minutes of the video could be redacted. The family, including Kirk's widow Erika and his parents Robert and Kathryn, argued in their filing that shielding evidence from the courtroom undermines transparency and would allow speculation and conspiracy theories about the assassination to spread, breeding distrust in the judicial system.

The dispute comes during a weeklong pre-trial evidence hearing for Robinson, 23, who faces the death penalty if convicted of murdering the conservative activist in front of thousands at Utah Valley University on 10 September 2025. Twiggs's prerecorded testimony is regarded as one of the most anticipated pieces of evidence, with prosecutors alleging that Robinson turned himself in after confessing to Twiggs. Judge Tony Graf ruled on Wednesday that the video could be published with redactions, which prosecutors said they would edit and play in court on Thursday. Robinson has not yet entered a plea, and his lawyers have not commented on his guilt or innocence.
