Kisser – “Bad Boy Mountain” & “Ghostgirl”

Stereogum · 1 month ago

Buck Meek, best known as a member of the indie band Big Thief, has launched a new group called Kisser and released its first material, a two-song single featuring "Bad Boy Mountain" and "Ghostgirl". The band brings together several musicians who contributed to Meek's recent solo album The Mirror, marking the emergence of a distinct project rather than a solo side-venture, which is likely to interest followers of Big Thief and the wider indie scene.

Kisser is made up of Meek alongside Luke Temple (formerly of Here We Go Magic), singer-songwriter Germaine Dunes, ambient composer Jesse Quebbeman-Turley and guitarist Adam Brisbin, with several members also playing in Meek's touring band. The group set up an Instagram page and toured the West Coast last year before supporting Meek in Europe and the UK, and they resumed opening duties as he began a North American tour on Tuesday, the same day the single arrived. Germaine Dunes sings lead on both tracks, which the writer describes as a "linear take on classic-rock-leaning indie"; separately, Temple's Art Feynman project also released a new single, "Asleep At The Wheel", that day.
