Hilary Duff Delights With Equal Parts Nostalgia and Evolution on The Lucky Me Tour: “Joyful, Fun and Extremely Rewarding”

The Hollywood Reporter · 1 month ago

Hilary Duff is in the midst of The Lucky Me tour, her first major tour in over a decade, and has been playing to enthusiastic, sold-out crowds including two nights in Los Angeles. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter ahead of her second LA show, the 38-year-old singer and actress described the experience as "joyful and fun and extremely rewarding", underlining her return as a live performer after years focused largely on acting.

The tour promotes her latest album, Luck… or Something, her first in a decade, and centres on balancing her 2000s hits with her new material. At Inglewood's Kia Forum, a crowd of millennials and older Gen Z fans — many dressed in bright colours evoking her teen show Lizzie McGuire — responded with equal passion to old and new songs. Duff opened with "Wake Up" and "So Yesterday" to ease fans back in, said her new track "Roommates" reliably "goes off", and used nostalgic video interludes, including Lizzie McGuire-era footage, between costume changes. She grew emotional performing in her home city with her family in attendance, having eased back into touring last year with the smaller Small Rooms, Big Nerves tour.
