GTA 6 Just Got A Jaw-Dropping Sales Prediction

GameSpot · 2 months ago

Research firm Newzoo has forecast that Grand Theft Auto 6 could generate between $3.3 billion and $5.2 billion in worldwide sales during its first week after release. The estimate underlines the unusually high expectations surrounding Rockstar’s next game, with even the lower end exceeding the $1 billion GTA 5 made in its first 72 hours in 2013.

Newzoo based its projection on its Game Performance Monitor and estimated that digital pre-order spending reached $180 million in the final week of June across the US and five major European markets: the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. It used GTA 5’s player distribution, in which those six markets represented about 69% of lifetime console players, to scale the figure into a global estimate; the forecast remains an analyst projection rather than a sales target from Rockstar or Take-Two.

  • Newzoo forecasts up to $5.2 billion in GTA 6’s first week.
  • Even the low estimate exceeds GTA 5’s initial revenue.
  • The projection relies partly on strong pre-order spending.
