The streaming service Dropout, which grew out of College Humor, was completely shut out of the 2026 Emmy nominations announced by the Television Academy on Wednesday. The company had submitted two of its most popular shows — the game show Game Changer and the improvised talk show Very Important People — for consideration across 11 categories, and CEO and Game Changer host Sam Reich had staged a "For Your Consideration" event in May to drum up interest. The snub is notable given Dropout's rising profile, having built a roster of well-known comedians and an actual play show capable of selling out Madison Square Garden.

Game Changer, recently returned for its eighth season, competed in the game show categories but lost out to established fixtures such as Jeopardy! and Jimmy Kimmel's Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Very Important People, hosted by Vic Michaelis and now in its third season, saw Michaelis contend unsuccessfully in the lead comedy actress category, while both shows also missed out on behind-the-scenes categories such as production design and costumes. Despite the setback, Dropout continues to expand, having this year trialled a Game Changer Blu-ray release, a 24/7 livestream channel and a puppet show licence, and wrapped a Kickstarter for an at-home version of Game Changer that raised almost $7 million in pledges.
