The low-budget psychological horror film *Obsession*, produced by Blumhouse Productions, has become 2026's most unexpected box-office success and is now heading to home release. Made for a reported $750,000, the film has taken around $404 million worldwide, demonstrating that a small independent title can rival major blockbuster franchises. Its story of a toxic relationship spiralling out of control has turned it from an indie sleeper into a wider cultural phenomenon.

The film premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, where Focus Features acquired distribution rights, and reached US cinemas on 15 May 2026. It has since set several records, overtaking Ryan Coogler's *Sinners* as the highest-grossing live-action English-language original film of the 2020s, and surpassing 1973's *Enter the Dragon* as the highest-grossing film with a budget under $1 million. *Obsession* will arrive on 4K Blu-ray and DVD on 14 July 2026, with a Collector's Edition featuring Dolby Vision, HDR10, Dolby Atmos audio, a digital copy, and bonus material including a commentary from 26-year-old writer-director-editor Curry Barker.
