ASRock has listed a version of AMD's Radeon RX 9050 graphics card with just 4GB of video memory, marking the return of a VRAM capacity not seen on modern GPUs for several years. The listing emerged the same day ASRock launched an 8GB version of the same card, and comes as rising RAM prices and component shortages push manufacturers towards cheaper, lower-spec hardware.

The 4GB RX 9050 uses AMD's RDNA 4 architecture, with a 64-bit memory interface, 16 compute units and a boost clock of up to 2,600MHz, enough to support features such as FSR 4 but well below what current major games recommend, even at 1080p. ASRock has not confirmed pricing, but the card was spotted in a Best Buy listing for an $889 prebuilt PC also featuring 8GB of DDR4 RAM, 500GB of SSD storage and an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 processor; ASRock and AMD have not responded to requests for comment.
