5 Years Later, Netflix’s Brilliant 4-Part Crime Thriller Only Gets Better With Every Season

Netflix’s French crime thriller *Lupin*, starring Omar Sy as a thief seeking justice for his father, has won acclaim across its seasons. The article argues that the series grows more compelling as Assane’s schemes raise the personal stakes and his pursuit of a powerful family leaves him facing new dangers.

The show premiered in 2021 and reworks the Arsène Lupin stories: Assane adopts the gentleman thief’s methods, while detective Youssef Guedira uses his knowledge of the books to track him. Seasons 3 and 4 received perfect Rotten Tomatoes scores, and the article links renewed interest in the series to a 2025 theft at the Louvre, echoing a museum robbery in its first season.
