A BioWare documentary was already in the works when the shutdown was announced: ‘With the studio’s recent closure, the film is now a profound valediction’
A Canadian documentary about BioWare’s history was already two years into filming when EA closed the studio. Its director, Akash Sherman, says the closure has turned the film into a “profound valediction” to a developer whose storytelling inspired a generation.
Titled *Massive Effect: The BioWare Story*, the film includes interviews with founders Ray Muzyka, Greg Zeschuk and Augustine Yip, along with developers, voice actor Jennifer Hale and former EA chief John Riccitello. Muzyka and Zeschuk said BioWare’s legacy rests on the people who made its games and the fans who carried their stories forward. The documentary is scheduled for release next year.
