A waterfall of poppies: Thousands of crocheted red flowers cascade from church ahead of Remembrance Day
More than 200 volunteers have created a display of 6,500 crocheted poppies on St Peter’s Church in Inkberrow, Worcestershire, ahead of Remembrance Day. Arranged to look like a red waterfall flowing from the bell tower towards the war memorial, it honours those who died in the two world wars and has drawn families to discuss their sacrifice.
Organisers had hoped to make 4,000 poppies by 11 November, but exceeded that target by 2,500 after months of work by people aged six to 92. Hundreds more were sent from Lanzarote after an appeal for help. The memorial bears the names of 34 men from the village who died in the First and Second World Wars.
