Phoenix, Arizona — a relatively affordable Southwestern city that has drawn Americans relocating from more expensive, liberal areas such as New York and Los Angeles — is reported to be experiencing a marked rise in people converting to Catholicism. According to the Arizona Republic, the local diocese has grown to more than two million parishioners, making it the second-largest Catholic diocese in the United States after the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, per the 2025 Official Catholic Directory.

Diocese figures point to a steep rise in adult converts, with 512 adult baptisms recorded in 2025 — up 46.7 per cent on 2022. Adult confirmations rose from 507 in 2022 to 1,404 in 2025, and first communions from 621 to 1,118 over the same period. Diocese representatives Joyce Coronel and Brett Meister described the interest as "enormous" and said they expect the 2026 figures to be higher still, framing the growth as part of a wider national resurgence in Catholicism.
