Airbnb bans hosts from making you do the dishes
Airbnb is setting clearer limits on the chores hosts can ask guests to do before leaving a rental. Under its revised policy, requests must be reasonable and cannot involve tasks that take significant time or effort, or would usually be done by a cleaner.
Hosts may choose from seven standard property rules and add requests in the designated section of the listing; they cannot communicate them after booking through messages, signs or in person. Gathering used towels is given as an acceptable request, while stripping bedsheets or doing laundry is not. The policy takes effect on 20 November and allows exceptions for local needs, such as bear-proof rubbish storage.
