An airline passenger has gone viral after using paid onboard Wi-Fi to stream a dramatic World Cup match on his laptop so that fellow travellers could watch it too. The clip, which shows the man standing near the front of the cabin holding up his screen, has been celebrated as an example of the way major football tournaments can bring strangers together, even at 30,000 feet.
The match in question saw Lionel Messi's Argentina recover from two goals down to beat Egypt 3-2, a comeback described as one of the most shocking of the tournament. The article, an opinion-led piece by OutKick writer Matthew Reigle, notes that the airline and the flight involved are unknown, and jokes that carriers charging premium prices for reliable internet were unlikely to be pleased. It also references Tom Brady having compared Argentina's rally to the New England Patriots' famous Super Bowl comeback.
- Passenger streamed Argentina's World Cup comeback on his laptop for the whole plane.
- Argentina beat Egypt 3-2 after trailing by two goals.
