Alan Ritchson's new action film Runner has received a mixed critical reception, contrasting with the strong acclaim given to Season 4 of his hit series Reacher. The film, opening in cinemas on 11 September, sees Ritchson play a former soldier drawn into a race against time after a medical delivery makes him and his partner, played by Owen Wilson, targets of a drug cartel. Early reviews suggest the film, while solid, falls short of the praise Reacher has attracted, though it still marks a respectable outing for the actor's expanding film career.

Directed by Scott Waugh (Expend4bles) and written by Miles Hubley and Tommy White, Runner also stars Rodrigo Santoro, Leila George and Kate Box alongside Ritchson and Wilson. At the time of writing, the film holds a 67% score on Rotten Tomatoes, a "positive" but not outstanding rating that nonetheless marks Ritchson's third consecutive film to receive majority approval from critics, and a higher score than his two other 2026 releases, War Machine and Motor City.
