Prince Harry’s rumored Diana film ‘might feel like another betrayal’ to Prince William as rift grows: expert

Fox News · 2 hours ago

Reports have emerged that Prince Harry is planning to make a film about his late mother, Princess Diana, ahead of the 30th anniversary of her death next year, prompting royal commentators to warn it could deepen the already severe rift with his brother, Prince William. The two princes have been estranged for years, last appearing together publicly at King Charles's coronation in May 2023, and experts suggest the project risks being seen as another betrayal, particularly if Meghan Markle is creatively involved, given her frequent comparisons of herself to Diana despite never having met her.

Commentator Kinsey Schofield claimed a Diana Award fundraising dinner Harry was due to attend was reportedly cancelled after William learned Meghan intended to attend with a list of demands, which she said would "infuriate" William if it became a further PR opportunity. Author Christopher Andersen noted that William and Harry previously worked together on a Diana documentary in 2017, but said the rumoured new three-part film, reportedly based on unheard tapes, is seen by William as a posthumous invasion of their mother's privacy, potentially revisiting painful subjects such as her battles with Charles over Camilla, her eating disorder and past suicide attempts. Fox News Digital said Harry's Archewell office did not respond to a request for comment.
