Mary Peltola, the Democratic nominee for Alaska's Senate seat, has been accused by nine anonymous former staffers of unleashing profane outbursts and inappropriate behaviour towards employees in a lengthy New York Times investigation. The allegations include shoving an aide and using derogatory language, which matter because Peltola is considered a narrow favourite to become Alaska's first Democrat elected to the Senate since 2008. Her campaign has denied some allegations whilst blaming others on grief following her husband's death in a plane crash in 2023.

The reported incidents span several years and include a February 2024 shoving incident over a missing memo, vulgar exchanges with staff over campaign matters, and angry messages about Planned Parenthood—which notably declined to endorse her despite backing her in previous races. Peltola reportedly also requested that staff fetch live crickets to feed her pet chameleon named Meatball, which was eventually brought to her Capitol Hill office. Her tenure has been marked by exceptionally high staff turnover, with former employees reporting emotional distress and physical effects from the working environment. After internal morale issues escalated, staffers were reportedly fired or demoted following intervention from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
