Alienware is testing a firmware fix for the AW3926QW’s subtle “vignette” effect, in which the screen edges gradually dim during bright gaming scenes. The monitor is otherwise highly regarded, so resolving the issue could make it a more unequivocal recommendation.

The dimming is linked to CPC, an OLED protection feature intended to reduce burn-in by lowering brightness around the edges. Alienware may add a toggle to control CPC, but disabling it could increase burn-in risk and might affect warranty coverage; the monitor costs about $1,100 and offers a 39-inch 5K2K Tandem WOLED display.
