All hidden treasure locations in Onimusha Way of the Sword
Polygon has published a guide detailing every hidden treasure location in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, aimed at helping players complete the game's optional side quests without wasting time searching Kyoto's streets. These quests unlock progressively once players reach the "To Live is to Suffer" main story mission, with each new drawing given by a quest-giving character pointing to a chest's location on the map.
Each treasure is tied to an "Old Drawing" containing visual clues, such as pagodas, ladders or garden gates, alongside a cryptic description of the surroundings. Players must travel to Spirit Mirror waypoints near the depicted scene, navigate the terrain (climbing ladders, crossing gaps or scaling stone steps) and then use their gauntlet to reveal the hidden chest. The guide contains spoilers and covers at least five treasure locations across areas including Kiyomizu-zaka Slope, Yasaka Pagoda and Gojo Street.

Kyoto is the setting for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and beyond its main story the game hides a number of optional treasure chests around the city, each linked to a side quest. These are unlocked gradually as players progress through the story, starting once they reach a mission called "To Live is to Suffer", with a character in the game handing over hand-drawn clues to help track each chest down.
Finding the treasures isn't straightforward: each clue, called an "Old Drawing", shows a sketch of a real location, such as a pagoda, a ladder or a garden gate, along with a vague written description. Players then have to work out where that spot is in the game world, travel there using fixed fast-travel points, physically navigate the area, and use a special tool to uncover the hidden chest.
Guides like this one from the gaming site Polygon exist to save players the time and effort of puzzling out these clues themselves, listing the exact locations for known treasures across various districts of the game's Kyoto. Because they reveal chest locations in advance, such guides necessarily contain spoilers for players who would rather work them out on their own.
