Alleged attack on One Nation supporter not believed to be politically motivated, Victoria police say
Victoria Police say an alleged assault on a 60-year-old One Nation supporter outside his Torquay home is not being treated as politically motivated. Their updated account also says a “blunt weapon” was allegedly used, correcting an earlier reference to a baseball bat.
A 37-year-old Hampton Park man was charged with intentionally causing injury and other assault-related offences, and remanded to appear on 10 November; a 14-year-old boy was cautioned. Police allege the attack happened on Sunday night. Political leaders condemned it, and a fundraiser shared by Elon Musk had raised more than $250,000 by 1pm on Wednesday.
