Microsoft has revived a previously cancelled expansion for Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition, offering a rare positive announcement amid wider disruption in Xbox’s gaming division. The move matters to the game’s community because the DLC was announced in 2023, delayed, then cancelled before development had properly begun.

The expansion, titled The Baltic Powers, will launch on 10 September 2026 and adds the Danes and Poles as playable civilisations. It also includes 25 maps, more than 50 hero customisations, new modes including Regicide and Independence, and two scenarios; the announcement follows plans to cut 3,200 Xbox jobs by next July.
