Amyl And The Sniffers Lasso Country Project
Australian punk rock band Amyl And The Sniffers has announced a documentary film project exploring country interpretations of their original songs. Directed by longtime collaborator John Angus Stewart and produced by Chris Chang and Jason Baum, the film represents an intentional creative departure from the band's established punk and rock sound.
Frontwoman Amy Taylor has previously expressed her ambition to pursue an Australian country album inspired by artists such as Chad Morgan and Slim Dusty. The project follows the band's substantial commercial and critical success, including three released studio albums, multiple ARIA Awards, and a Grammy nomination for their 2024 album Cartoon Darkness. The band is currently touring Europe with North American dates scheduled to begin in October.
