Andrew Garfield says he hopes his new film "The Uprising" leaves billionaires "scared shitless", framing the retelling of the Robin Hood legend as a warning to today's wealthy elite. Directed by Paul Greengrass and set for a US release on 10 September, the film casts Garfield as a farmer-turned-rebel leader in 1831 England, drawing parallels between historical uprisings against injustice and modern-day struggles.

Speaking at a screening Q&A, Garfield expressed hope the film would be "galvanizing" and prompt audiences to see their own struggles reflected in the characters' fight against oppression. He also picked up on a line from the film, "there will be no peace until we are healed", suggesting billionaires might be "the most soul sick" and most in need of that healing. Garfield's character, Ploughman, leads a rebellion against King Richard II (played by Woody Norman) over a harsh tax imposed in the aftermath of a devastating plague, echoing the origins of the Robin Hood legend.
