Fame Academy coach who assaulted Andy Carroll called monster by daughter

Daily Mail ·

Kevin Adams, a dance coach on BBC's Fame Academy, was sentenced to 20 months in prison in 2023 for sexually assaulting footballer Andy Carroll whilst he slept. Carroll, 37, publicly revealed the assault for the first time through his autobiography, Owning It: My Untold Story, released recently. The case has renewed attention after Adams's own daughter, Avia, 21, spoke out calling her father a "monster" and expressing support for Carroll's decision to name his attacker.

The assault occurred at Carroll's house when Adams was visiting to watch a boxing match. Carroll woke to find Adams attempting to perform oral sex on him whilst he slept; he threw Adams out and knocked him unconscious when Adams tried to return. Adams was found guilty and placed on the sex offender register, with restrictions on where he could live. Carroll has testified that the experience was "humiliating and embarrassing" and continues to affect every aspect of his life; court documents place the incident in 2019, though Carroll's account says 2021.
