Ann Coulter mocks nepo-Republican Darlene Graham after her crushing loss: ‘Hard to believe her era is coming to an end… The Lioness of the Senate!’
Ann Coulter mocked Republican Darlene Graham after she lost South Carolina’s Senate race to Democrat Annie Andrews, sarcastically calling her the “Lioness of the Senate”. The defeat was a setback for Donald Trump, who had backed Graham and campaigned for her, and came amid wider Republican losses in Congress.
With 86 per cent of votes counted, Andrews led by 51 per cent to 47 per cent. Trump had won South Carolina by 18 points two years earlier, but Graham, who had never held public office, faced scrutiny over her readiness for the role after saying foreign policy was “not my thing”. Andrews used that admission to question Graham’s suitability for a six-year term; the candidates also traded attacks over their records and campaign remarks.
In short
- Annie Andrews led Darlene Graham by four points with 86 per cent counted.
- Trump’s endorsement and campaigning did not secure Graham’s victory.
- Graham’s lack of public office and foreign policy experience drew criticism.
