Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced game director Richard Knight said Ubisoft was surprised when players used the remake’s photo mode to share large numbers of close-up “feet pics”, but he viewed it as a legitimate, if unexpected, use of the feature. The response highlights how community-created images can quickly shape discussion around a game after launch, even when they differ from developers’ intended showcases of its world and visuals.

The remake’s photo mode automatically saves and uploads players’ images to an official online gallery, where others can view and like them. A close-up image of a female non-player character’s feet reportedly became the gallery’s second most-liked post, attracting more than 57,000 likes; only a burning-ship seascape had more, with over 80,000. Knight said photo mode exists to let players be creative, so the team accepted the unusual trend.
