Aura Entertainment Acquires Dario Russo’s ‘The Fox’ To Release Theatrically In December

Deadline · 2 hours ago

Aura Entertainment has acquired US theatrical distribution rights to *The Fox*, a dark comedy marking the feature directorial debut of writer-director Dario Russo, known for the cult TV series *Danger 5*. The film boasts a notable cast including Jai Courtney, Emily Browning, Olivia Colman and the late Sam Neill, and follows its premieres at the Adelaide Film Festival and SXSW with further screenings at Fantasia, Melbourne and Sydney film festivals. The deal gives the offbeat Australian production a theatrical platform in America, extending its festival success into a wider commercial release.

The film centres on a talking fox that offers a hunter the chance to transform his unfaithful partner into the "perfect woman," with unforeseen consequences. It will open in Australian cinemas on 26 November before its US release on 4 December. The production was backed by Causeway Films, Screen Australia, Orogen Entertainment and the South Australian Film Corporation, with the acquisition deal negotiated by Protagonist Pictures on behalf of the filmmakers.
