"Drunk History" is making a comeback, with three new short-form episodes set to launch on Comedy Central's YouTube channel seven years after the show's last original run. The Emmy-winning series, created by Derek Waters and Jeremy Konner, is known for pairing intoxicated narrators with comically staged historical re-enactments, and its revival marks a notable return for a beloved comedy format that had seemed to have run its course after production was halted during the pandemic.

The first episode premieres on 15 September and features Meghan Trainor portraying Madonna's iconic performance at the first MTV Video Music Awards, with a cast including Seth Green, Colin Hanks, Mae Whitman and Weird Al Yankovic, among others. The other two episodes will cover Frances Perkins, a key figure behind Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal, and a decades-long rivalry to build the world's largest ball of twine. Originally launched as a web series in 2007 before becoming a Comedy Central show from 2013 to 2019, "Drunk History" was renewed for a seventh season in 2019 before that decision was reversed in 2020 due to pandemic-related production halts.
